Eligibility News!

Remember if you fail a class (any regular class, this
does not includes Pre-Cal, Honors, or AP classes)
you are ineligible to cheer beginning on October 8th at 4:15.

If you are passing all of your classes, you will regain your
eligibility on November the 5th.

This means you will not cheer for the West JV game,
the West Pep Rally, or the West Varsity game.
You will also miss the Allen and Boyd games (this includes the Homecoming parade and pep rally).
This also includes volleyball games.

The competition squad is also under the rules of eligibility.

If you become ineligible, you will report to the
Sub-School for 7th period and be in study hall
until you regain eligibility.

Schedule for September 21-25

RIVALRY WEEK 2009!!!

Monday: Practice at 3:35 until 5:45 (Girls wear Team shirt)
Tuesday: Practice at 3:35 until 5:45 (Girls wear PSHS White Shirt)
Wednesday: Practice at 3:35 until 5:45 (Girls wear Save the World)
Thursday: Practice at East in their indoor facility from 4-5
Girls wear Derby shirt with maroon star shorts
Boys wear sleeveless WG shirt and maroon shorts with pockets
Boys leave for JV game at Clark immediately after practice
Boys take flags and JV Cat Suit

Girls bring your megaphone on Monday to practice.
I will store them in the cheer closet. We may practice

need them for both the pep rally and the game.

over the weekend in the Gameday/Cheerleading section!
Great Job!

I've been to two high school football games this year: Plano v. Irving MacArthur and Plano West v. Flower Mound Marcus. I have a niece in one of the bands and a nephew on one of the teams. I've witnessed some very good cheering (and seen some not so good football - odd for Plano schools!). In fact my wife, a former cheerleader, was impressed as well.
The Plano Senior High Cheerleaders look and cheer like a college squad. The girls cheer, tumble, and stunt and the boys run the flags, stunt with the girls, tumble, and chant with megaphones. In fact, the boys do a lot of the old fashion cheers to the crowd (the ones we actually know). The whole atmosphere with the student section, band, drill team, and cheer squad is something to watch. The entire 4th quarter (when Plano had a number of chances to win) these kids never missed a beat. Jaydon McCullough is lucky to have these kids behind him!
At Plano West, the game atmosphere is not quite up to the Plano circus, but it is much improved over the past years. While they don't have as many kids - maybe 10 or 11 girls and 5 or 6 boys, they work hard too. I don't remember seeing boys before this year at a Plano West game. So maybe the Plano West machine is beginning to rise to the level of Plano, East, and Allen. Those huge blue WEST flags are really nice! And, those boys really worked the student section with their rally cheers and Wolfpack yells. When I read the thread about cheerleading I just had to brag on our Plano kids a bit.
